Erin O’Rourke, soprano, is a New York City native and 2023 graduate of The Juilliard School, where she earned her Master’s degree in Vocal Arts under the tutelage of soprano Amy Burton. While at Juilliard, she worked with acclaimed directors John Giampetro, Mary Birnbaum, and Steven Wadsworth. Her notable performances there included Purcell’s King Arthur under Maestro Lionel Meunier with Juilliard415, Berg’s Seven Early Songs at Alice Tully Hall with the Juilliard Orchestra, and Nella in Juilliard Opera’s production of Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi.
In 2023, Ms. O’Rourke was named a Gerdine Young Artist at Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, where she covered the title role of Floyd’s Susannah in Patricia Racette’s production. She then traveled to Switzerland to join the world-renowned Atelier Lyrique at the Verbier Festival, where she gave recitals with distinguished pianist James Baillieu.
Equally devoted to art song and concert work, Ms. O’Rourke has performed curated Liederabende at Alice Tully Hall and Juilliard, featuring the music of Madeleine Dring and Lili Boulanger. She has also appeared in Juilliard’s Focus Festival under Dr. Joel Sachs, which The New York Times praised as “Broadway meets avant-garde.” She made her Lincoln Center debut in the C.P.E. Bach Festival at the Bruno Walter Theater.
Since 2023, Ms. O’Rourke has been a member of Royal Academy Opera, where her roles have included Lady Billows (Albert Herring), Dalinda (Ariodante), Gretel (Hänsel und Gretel), Erste Dame (Die Zauberflöte), and Armande in Martinů’s Twice Alexander. She is also a member of the Academy Song Circle, through which she made her Wigmore Hall debut in January 2025 and has performed extensively in recital. On the concert stage, she has sung Mahler’s Symphony No. 4 with esteemed conductor Finnegan Downie Dear.
She is the 2024 winner of the Richard Tucker/Jean L. Lewis Award and a prizewinner in the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition, receiving First Place in the New York District and Second Place at the Eastern Regionals.
Currently, Ms. O’Rourke is a Young Artist with Glyndebourne Festival Opera, where she will perform in La Bohème this fall in addition to a series of concerts and oratorios (see Events page).
